Spring

Miami County Farm Tour – The Annual Miami County Farm Tour in Miami County, Kansas is a great way to get to know the area and learn more about its agricultural history. Happening every Mother’s Day weekend in the spring, this event is free and open to the public. The tour includes several stops across the county, each with its own unique and interesting activities. Stops change from year to year and may include fruit orchards; berry farms; pecan groves; bison, alpaca and cattle ranches; a honeybee farm; and wineries! At each stop, visitors can learn about the history of that particular farm, watch demonstrations, and even sample some of the local products. The tour is a great way to spend a day outdoors, get to know your local farmers, and explore the agricultural heritage of the area. Summer

Miami County Fair – Every summer, the Miami County Fair takes over the fairgrounds with carnival rides, a petting zoo, and plenty of other attractions. The Fair typically takes place in late July or early August in Wallace Park in Paola. The exact dates vary from year to year. Music & The Market - a collaboration between Discover Historic Paola’s Farmers Market and the Miami County Arts Coalition’s Music on the historic downtown Paola Square. Music and the Market takes place Saturdays from mid-June to late September. This is a FREE concert series that happens most summer Saturdays. Music begins at 7:30pm. Bring your own lawn chairs. Roots Festival - Every year, the small town of Paola, Kansas is transformed into a vibrant celebration of the area’s roots and heritage with the Paola Roots Festival. This two-day event is held in downtown Paola and features live music, art, food, and craft vendors. There are also fun activities for the whole family with great games and fun rides for the younger festival goers. With so much to do, Paola Roots Festival is a great way to learn more about the area’s history, culture, and traditions while having fun with friends and family. Fall

Louisburg Cider Mill’s Ciderfest and Craft Fair – Ciderfest takes place over a range of dates in late September to early October and is the premier event of the year for Miami County. There are fall fun activities for all ages including a corn maze, pumpkin patch, pony rides, cider and donut making and shopping booths. Winter

Christmas at the Adair Cabin - Experience a unique holiday celebration this December by visiting the John Brown Museum State Historic Site for Christmas at the Adair Cabin. Step back in time to the 1850s to learn how Christmas was celebrated in Kansas Frontier style. Get a glimpse of this bygone era as you explore the Adair Cabin and discover the history of the time.
